Waterford overview

Waterford is one of Ireland’s sunnier and drier climes; sitting as it does on the southeast coast and sheltered somewhat from the weather of the Atlantic Ocean by the southwest of Ireland. It is known for its crystal and horses, and the fishing’s not bad either. The town is the oldest one in the country, hailing from the days of the Vikings around the ninth century. The surroundings are the most intriguing part of a visit to Waterford for non-crystal aficionados and you can hit the coast all the way to Cork. The profusion of waterways around and about is particularly appealing to those looking to hook their dinner and there is plenty of undulating terrain to gallop a thoroughbred. Waterford has an airport, while those residing in Wales would be best off ferrying it via Rosslare.
