Limerick overview

Limerick Travel Guide
Limerick exists on the edge of County Limerick in the Irish southwest and has the River Shannon going through it. While perhaps not as appealing as some of the other southern Irish locales, which can partly be attributed to its awful weather, Limerick has many facets of interest. It’s split up into three bits – the aptly named Irish and English towns, and Newtown Pery – and is a pleasant combination of old, twisty streets and more modern, staid areas. Good examples of this contrast are the imposing King John's Castle and the new Living Bridge. Limerick, of course, has the mandatory selection of boozers where visitors can sample the perfect pint of Guinness and discern traditional folk songs. Nearby Shannon Airport provides the fastest access and trains also serve from the capital.
