Ennis overview

The seat of County Clare in western Ireland is the main gateway to the magnificent Cliffs of Moher. It is connected to Shannon by motorway, where there is an international airport with flights from around Europe. Ennis itself is a cool town especially noted for its traditional music as well as for restaurants which run the gamut, from traditional Irish to Italian, Indian, and Chinese. The town has a hearty rock music scene with lively bands playing out at pubs throughout the town, while the annual Fleadh Nua Music Festival in May is bags of fun. In addition, Ennis is good for walking and there are plenty of old villages nearby to get lost in, including Bunratty with its medieval castle.
